From the hot and humid bayous of Baton Rouge to the lively streets of New Orleans, Louisiana is a state worthy of its nickname: The Pelican State.

This southern gem borders the Gulf of Mexico, offering plenty of seafood dishes and beach adventures, not to mention it’s home to one of the wildest parties in the USA, Mardi Gras.

Fun fact: The state’s official painting, George Rodrigue’s acrylic-on-canvas portrait “Ainsi va le Monde,” shows a young girl in a blue dress surrounded by pelicans, an iconic symbol for Louisiana today.

Just another reminder that this is truly a unique place.
